こんにちは。これも気になっていた映画のひとつです。何よりもトビー・フーパーとスティーブン・スピルバーグの共作、というのがもう面白いです。共作といえば最近押井守と今敏の「セラフィム」とかを読んで、つくづく才能のある作家同士は何処まで行っても、相容れないものなのかなと思いましたが、この映画は基本スピルバーグ調の中に時折フーパーが顔を出す感じで、どういう経緯でどんなやりとりが二人の監督の間にあったのか分かりませんが、出来上がった作品はとても良い娯楽映画になっていて、僕はとても好きでした。同じ様な展開で黒沢清と伊丹十三の共作「スウィートホーム」（1989）がありますが、こちらは二人がぶつかった結果、どちらの色でもない不思議な仕上がりのものになっていましたが、この「ポルターガイスト」（1982）は全編殆どスピルバーグなのですが、スプラッターシーンなどの要所要所で、フーパーっぽさが出てきます。こういう映画では普通母親は怪奇現象に対して否定的な立ち位置を取ることが多いですが、この映画では実にあっさりと受け入れてそれどころか喜んですらいます。霊媒師のタンジーナ（ゼルダ・ルビンスタイン）の声が凄く良くて催眠術に近い、小人症の子供のような高い声が妙に心地良いです。西洋のゴシック・ホラーだな、と思ったのは墓地の下から死人が出てきたり、庭の木が襲いかかってきたり、異次元の窓から現れる巨大な骸骨だったり、日本のようなおどろおどろしい女の幽霊は出てこないところが逆に新鮮でした。まあこれは日本の特殊性もあるかもしれませんが、今や幽霊=女性になっている風潮は日本のホラーを飽和状態にさせている原因かもしれません。

On the contrary, it was fresh that the ghost did not appear. Well, this may be a peculiarity of Japan, but the current trend of ghosts = women may be the cause of the saturation of Japanese horror.
