こんにちは。3月も半ばに来ました。早いです。この二冊は今日一気に読破しました。久しぶりに集中して読書しました。単純に滅茶苦茶面白かったです。僕は元々ドキュメンタリーとかが結構好きで、ひとりの人間の人生にフォーカスした話が好きです。しかもこの漫画は冒頭に書かれている通り、事実をそのままあったように描くわけではなく、なるべくリアリズムを排除しています。しかし嘘を描いている訳ではなくて、吾妻ひでおのフィルターが掛かった世界というか、彼自身漫画内でも書いていますが、僕達が住んでいるこの現実世界の苦しさや辛さから逃れるための空想の世界、つまり桃源郷のようなものを作っています。この絶妙なバランス、話は現実主義と理想主義がせめぎ合いながら、絵は緻密に描き込まれていてどこまでも楽観的です。それが空恐ろしく思えてしまいます。いや久しぶりにカルチャーショックを受けました。

何故このような私的な話をここまで客観的に描けるのか、という疑問があります。ひとつは巻末の対談でとり・みきが指摘していた、絵の客観性があります。つまり引きでキャラクターの全身が入る古典的な漫画の手法と、尚且俯瞰のショットの多さなどが読者に客観的な印象を与えます。もうひとつはギャグ漫画家として、自分さえも笑いの対象物として見ているから、ということもあります。そして僕が気付いたのは、吾妻ひでおが妻帯者で、妻に原稿の仕上げを頼んでいるということです。つまり内容を誰よりも身近な人間に見られるわけですから、嘘は描けないだろうと思います。
昨日現実主義と理想主義について書きましたが、絵にもそれは表れています。所謂水木しげるのようなデフォルメされたキャラクターとリアルな背景が画面で調和している可笑しさが吾妻ひでおにもあります。今回読んでみて吾妻ひでおの見ている世界の見方が好きになりました。なるべくポジティブに生きることは本当に大事です。
