こんにちは。もう3月が終わります。街を見れば春休みの子供たちで賑わい、桜も咲き始めて春光が眩い陽気です。ちょっと難しい言葉を使ってみました。今読んでいる本の影響もあります。amazonで高野慎三の「神保町「ガロ編集室」界隈」という本を買いました。何故買ったかというと、本当は戦後の貸本漫画の歴史について知りたくて、色々調べていたのですがいつの間にか「ガロ」についての本を買っていました。それを読むために事前知識として、YouTubeにあった「ガロの時代」という動画を観ました。この動画は詳しく調べるとどうやら1997年の10月28日に放映されたドキュメンタリー番組だったようですね。「ガロ」は元々白土三平を載せるために長井勝一が1964年に立ち上げたもので、初めは若い漫画家の力試しの実験場として大きくなりましたが、後に大手出版社の台頭により次第に衰退していきました。安保闘争、高度経済成長、テクノブーム、バブル景気などの時代の波と共に成長していったガロは常に芸術志向で新しい刺激を求める若者に支持されていたようです。勿論僕もそういう若者の1人ですから、時代を隔ててガロの持つ魔力に吸い寄せられたのだと思います。アングラでニッチな雑誌はそれを買うこと自体にある種の快感があって、こんな本を読んでいるだぜ、という気取りがあります。ですがそういう無法地帯からつげ義春のような巨大な才能が生まれたりするので、やはりマイナーな芸術志向の雑誌は必要だと思います。

The reason why I bought it is that I really wanted to know about the history of book rental comics after the war, so I was investigating various things, but before I knew it, I bought a book about "Garo". As a prior knowledge to read it, I watched a video called "The Age of Gallo" on YouTube. If you look closely at this video, it seems that it was a documentary program aired on October 28, 1997. Gallo was originally launched in 1964 by Katsuichi Nagai to put Sanpei Shirato, and at first it became a test site for young manga artists to test their abilities, but later it gradually declined due to the rise of major publishers. Garo, who grew up with the waves of the times such as security struggle, high economic growth, techno boom, and bubble economy, seems to have always been supported by young people who are artistically oriented and seeking new stimuli. Of course, I'm one of those young people, so I think I was sucked into the magic of Gallo across the times. Angra niche magazines have some kind of pleasure in buying it, and I feel like I'm reading a book like this. However, since a huge talent like Yoshiharu Tsuge is born from such a lawless zone, I think minor art-oriented magazines are still necessary.
