Hello. This is an interview with Isao Takahata in "Marcus in Search of Mother" (1976), and when he went to location hunting in Italy at that time, he was very shocked by the three-dimensional shape of the town. It was this "bicycle thief" (1950) who said that he wanted to draw the reality thoroughly, although there was no salvation like Neorealism after Italy. It is also famous as one of the representative Italian Neorealism films. I was watching it and thought that it had a great influence on the movies of later years. I saw this in other people's impressions, but I also feel the influence of this work on Kiyoshi Kurosawa's "Tokyo Sonata" (2008), and Sylvain Chomet's "Belleville Rendezvous" (2003) on bicycles and There is a lot in common with this movie, such as the name Bruno, the main character. The criticism of religion was also quite sharp, and it hurt my heart to watch it. It is also wonderful that it shows various possibilities properly. The reality is that I don't know if the man whose main character, Antonio (Lamberto Maggiorani) is a bicycle thief, is really that way or if he's really sick, so I'm drawing it properly.
